Classic Pecan Pie

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup Karo syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup white granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsps melted butter
  • 2 tbsps flour
  • 1 ½ cups shelled fancy pecan halves
  • 1 pre-made pie crust

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Gently work pie crust into a 9" pie pan.
  2. Mix ingredients together, folding in the pecans last, then pour into pie crust.
  3. Bake 400 F for 15 minutes; reduce heat to 350 F and bake for 35 minutes. If crust begins to over-brown, cover edges with foil.
  4. Pie is done when the interior temperature reaches 200 F. Tap the center of the pie lightly to check for doneness. It should spring back when done.
  5. Set pie pan on wire rack to cool for a minimum of 2 hours.
